Motorists are still paying for unnecessary Legal Expenses
Insurance
There are over 24 million drivers in the UK - and, according to a report by the Accident Relief Campaign (ARC) many of these motorists are still paying for unnecessary legal expenses cover. It is estimated that most UK drivers pay at least £15 a year to cover
personal injury claims, but according to the ARC the cover is not needed.
Apparently most insurers automatically add personal injury cover to their
car insurance policies. Drivers can opt not to pay it, but it is claimed that most are unaware of this because many insurers hide the details in the small print of their policies. The legal expenses cover charged by many insurers for
personal injury is completely unnecessary because these days, almost all personal injury claims are taken on by
specialist personal injury solicitors on a
"no win, no
fee" basis.
This is netting the car insurance industry an estimated additional premium revenue of at least £270 million a year.
Remember to query this with your motor insurance company before you renew your
car insurance policy. You do not need legal expenses cover added to your car insurance policy because if you are involved in an accident for which you are not to blame, a competent personal injury solicitor would be more than pleased to act for you at no cost to you - as the solicitor should be able to claim all his costs back from the insurers of the party that caused the accident!
